Martin Dufrasne (Montréal, QC) est titulaire d’un baccalauréat en design de l’environnement (UQAM) et d’un baccalauréat interdisciplinaire en art (UQAC). Sa pratique artistique se manifeste principalement à travers l’installation, la photographie et l’art action. Ses œuvres contestent les notions de valeur, de transformation et d’engagement. Depuis 1998, il mène en parallèle à sa pratique individuelle un travail en duo avec l’artiste Carl Bouchard. Son travail a été présenté dans diverses expositions collectives et individuelles, lors de biennales et de festivals de performance au Québec, au Canada et à l’étranger. En parallèle à sa pratique artistique, Martin Dufrasne réalise des projets à titre d’auteur ou en tant que commissaire. Co-fondateur des ateliers d’artistes TouTTouT à Chicoutimi (1997), Martin Dufrasne est actif dans le milieu des centres d’artistes du Québec à titre de travailleur culturel depuis près d’une vingtaine d’années (Le LOBE/1996-2004, 3e impérial/2006-2008). Il est actuellement coordonnateur de la programmation au centre de diffusion d’art multidisciplinaire de Montréal DARE-DARE où il travaille depuis 2010.
Christiana Myers (Saint-Jean, NB) est présidente du centre d’artistes Third Space qui, dans la métropole industrielle du Nouveau-Brunswick, propose des interventions artistiques dans les espaces publics interstitiels. L’an passé, Third Space a accueilli l’évènement artistique nocturne en plein air THIRD SHIFT. Elle a été stagiaire pour l’inaugural symposium international de sculptures à Saint John où elle a eu l’occasion d’assister les artistes dans la création des grandes sculptures en granit destinées aux espaces publics. Elle est également artiste visuelle et a présenté son travail dans de nombreuses expositions solo et de groupe, ainsi qu’avoir été commissaire d’une exposition qui examinait l’interprétation contemporaine du paysage industriel des provinces maritimes.
Matthew Williston (Moncton, NB) est cofondateur et directeur artistique de L’Art ici SVP et du festival Inspire. Voyageant à travers le monde et basé à Montréal depuis 1999, Matthew revient à Moncton en 2012 afin de contribuer à la culture et à l’art dans sa ville natale. Matthew est VJ, DJ, acteur, performeur et coordonnateur d’événements en plus de travailler les médias numériques et la projection. Il continue de repousser les limites de l’art visuel et contemporain avec plus de vingt ans d’expérience en coordination d’événement et en production artistique. « Créer des espaces qui créent un sentiment communautaire » et habiter une ville créative, colorée et inspirante est ce qui motive Williston.

The roundtable will be an opportunity to discuss different approaches to the presentation of non-permanent public art in urban context. There will be question of context, respect for the artist’s work, negotiation with government and involvement with the public.

Martin Dufrasne (Montréal QC) holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental design (UQAM) and a multidisciplinary bachelor of arts (UQAC). He mainly expresses his artwork through installations, photography and art action. His pieces challenge the ideas of value, transformation and engagement. Since 1998, along with his solo work, he has been collaborating with the artist Carl Bouchard. Martin’s work has been presented in many collective and solo exhibitions during biennials and performance festivals in Quebec, Canada and abroad.
Christiana Myers (Saint John, NB) is president of the board of directors of Third Space Gallery, located in New-Brunswick’s industrial port city. Third Space is a roving, interdisciplinary exhibition and performance space committed to representing professional contemporary artists. Last year the gallery hosted Saint John’s first night-time public art event, THIRD SHIFT, which sees artists’ work programmed into the city’s interstitial spaces. She was an intern for Saint John’s first international sculpture symposium where she had the opportunity to assist artists in creating large-scale granite sculptures that are now installed in communities around the province. She is also a visual artist and has presented her work in a number of solo and group exhibitions and took on a curatorial role for an exhibition exploring the interpretation of the industrial Maritime landscape in contemporary art.

Matthew returned to Moncton in 2012 to bring culture and art to his birthplace after being based in Montreal, while travelling and working the world, since 1999. VJ, DJ, actor, performer, and event organizer, Matthew is well versed in cutting-edge media arts and projection mapping. He continues to push the borders of contemporary and visual arts, bringing with him 20+ years experience in event planning, art and subculture. »Creating spaces that create community » is Willistons main drive, along with living in a creative, colorful and inspiring city.
