Parc \u00e9cologique du mill\u00e9naire<\/p>\n
Le Parc \u00e9cologique est un \u00eelot de verdure en milieu urbain pas comme les autres. Inaugur\u00e9 en 2000, il a pour mission d\u2019\u00eatre un outil d\u2019\u00e9ducation \u00e0 l\u2019environnement invitant tous et toutes \u00e0 des actions et engagements r\u00e9els et r\u00e9fl\u00e9chis pour inverser la crise \u00e9cologique contemporaine. Il h\u00e9berge plus de 600 arbres\/arbustes indig\u00e8nes. On y retrouve des \u0153uvres d’art, des sentiers, un pavillon, un \u00e9tang et un ruisseau, et ce, en bordure du campus de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Moncton, d\u2019un quartier r\u00e9sidentiel et d\u2019un boulevard. Le comit\u00e9 organisateur pr\u00e9pare la tenue d\u2019un Symposium d\u2019art\/nature du 22 septembre au 2 octobre 2016 \u00e0 Moncton. www.artnaturemoncton.ca<\/a><\/p>\n Depuis longtemps, l\u2019\u00eatre humain pense qu\u2019il doit \u00eatre ma\u00eetre de la nature, que cette derni\u00e8re est l\u00e0 pour \u00eatre travaill\u00e9e, cultiv\u00e9e, exploit\u00e9e pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ses besoins croissants. Mais cette approche nous a amen\u00e9 bien au-del\u00e0 des limites biophysiques de la plan\u00e8te comme en t\u00e9moigne la crise des changements climatiques. L\u2019enjeu existentiel de comment y r\u00e9pondre de mani\u00e8re durable et viable n\u00e9cessite d\u2019accro\u00eetre la r\u00e9flexivit\u00e9 cr\u00e9ative humaine. Les arts et l’\u00e9cologie se retrouvent alors parties prenantes du grand d\u00e9fi du XXI e si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 sa cr\u00e9ation, le Parc \u00e9cologique du Mill\u00e9naire a \u00e9t\u00e9 un espace non-utilis\u00e9, \u00e0 l’abri du d\u00e9veloppement du territoire environnant. Avec l’action humaine de sa cr\u00e9ation et l\u2019ajout successif d’\u0153uvres d’art public, cet espace s\u2019est d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 en fonction d\u2019am\u00e9nagements motiv\u00e9s par un souci d\u2019\u00e9ducation \u00e0 l’environnement.<\/p>\n Compte tenu du chemin parcouru depuis la cr\u00e9ation du parc, des questions persistent. Que fait-on des espaces d\u00e9laiss\u00e9s? Comment l\u2019artiste peut-il ou elle appuyer la mise en valeur d\u2019espaces qui ne sont ni le produit d’une utilisation ou d\u2019un am\u00e9nagement quelconque, ni l\u2019objet d’une zone prot\u00e9g\u00e9e? En d\u2019autres mots, comment n\u00e9gocie-t-on l\u2019interstice entre nature et culture, et tous les conflits qui y r\u00e9sident? Inaugurated in 2000, its mission is to be an educational tool for the environment inviting all to real action and commitment. It was conceived as a means to reverse the contemporary ecological crisis. It is host to more than 600 native trees and shrubs. It includes works of art, trails, a pavilion, a pond and a stream, and is situated on the edge of the Universit\u00e9 de Moncton campus, adjacent to a residential area and a boulevard.<\/p>\n The organizing committee is preparing to hold a nature art symposium from September 22 to October 2, 2016 in Moncton. www.artnaturemoncton.ca<\/p>\n For a long time, human beings have thought they must master nature, that it is there to be worked, cultivated, and exploited to meet ever growing needs. But this approach has brought us far beyond the biophysical limits of the planet as evidenced by the climate change crisis. The existential challenge of how to respond in a sustainable and viable way requires increasing human creativity. Art and ecology are thus interwoven and involved in this great challenge of the twenty-first century.<\/p>\n Until its creation, the Millennium Ecological Park was an unused space, free from the development of the surrounding territory. With the human action of its creation and the addition of successive works of public art, this area has been developed with a concern for education on the environment.<\/p>\n Given the progress made since the park’s creation, questions persist. What happens to abandoned areas? How can artists contribute to the value of spaces that are not the product of any use or development or the subject of a protected area? In other words, how does one negotiate the gap between nature and culture, and all the conflicts that live there? Can a balance between cultural and ecological planning be achieved?
