Il d\u00e9tient un baccalaur\u00e9at en arts visuels, une ma\u00eetrise en sculpture et une formation en architecture ainsi qu&rsquo;en int\u00e9gration des arts \u00e0 l&rsquo;architecture. Il vit et travaille au Qu\u00e9bec depuis 2003. Ses \u0153uvres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es dans le cadre de nombreuses expositions individuelles et collectives, au sein d\u2019interventions publiques ainsi qu\u2019au cours de r\u00e9sidences d\u2019artistes \u00e0 travers le Canada, l\u2019Argentine, les \u00c9tats-Unis, le Mexique et l\u2019Europe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.joseluistorres.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">joseluistorres.ca<\/a>[\/wpcol_1half]<\/p>\n<p>[wpcol_1half_end id=\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0\u00bb class=\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0\u00bb style=\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h2>D\u2019une autre nature<\/h2>\n<p>La pratique artistique de Torres, qui est surtout de la sculpture et de l\u2019installation, est motiv\u00e9e par la notion d\u2019appropriation de l\u2019espace et par des d\u00e9tournements de sens pos\u00e9s sur des mat\u00e9riaux issus de nos environnements quotidiens. La spontan\u00e9it\u00e9 et l\u2019accumulation sont r\u00e9currentes dans sa pratique, laquelle est li\u00e9e aux id\u00e9es d\u2019\u00e9conomie de survie, de main-d&rsquo;\u0153uvre et du ready-made.<\/p>\n<p>Adoptant une attitude ludique, ses \u0153uvres s\u2019ancrent dans la r\u00e9flexion sur le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de la coexistence avec des \u00e9l\u00e9ments non planifi\u00e9s, se modifiant l\u2019un l\u2019autre pour former des environnements en permanente \u00e9volution. \u00ab Faire avec \u00bb est un de ses besoins et un des fondements de sa d\u00e9marche. \u00c0 partir des constructions et des \u00ab d\u00e9constructions \u00bb progressives il explore nos fa\u00e7ons d&rsquo;occuper l\u2018espace en utilisant de mani\u00e8re subversive les r\u00e8gles du bricolage.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab D\u2019une autre nature \u00bb est une installation cumulative, virale et invasive. He has been living and working in Quebec since 2003. His work has been showcased in many solo and group exhibitions, in public interventions and artist residencies in Canada, Argentina, the United States, Mexico and Europe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.joseluistorres.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">joseluistorres.ca<\/a> [\/wpcol_1half]<\/p>\n<p>[wpcol_1half_end id=\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0\u00bb class=\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0\u00bb style=\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h2>D\u2019une autre nature<\/h2>\n<p>Mainly in the form of sculptures and installations, Jos\u00e9\u2019s work is motivated by the appropriation of space and the redirection of meaning given to materials from our everyday environments. Spontaneity and accumulation are recurrent themes in his work; his approach combines the ideas of survival economy, workforce and the ready-made.<\/p>\n<p>The artist\u2019s pieces are playfully rooted in a reflection on the phenomenon of coexistence with unplanned elements, modifying one another to form environments in a state of constant evolution. To \u201cmake do with\u201d is one of his artistic needs and a cornerstone of his process; a progressive construction and \u201cdeconstruction\u201d that explore the ways in which we occupy space by using subversively the rules of crafting.<\/p>\n<p>The installation <em>D\u2019une autre nature<\/em> [A different nature] is at once accumulative, viral and invasive.
